Paddle the LA River!

 

There will be three recreation-education trips per day, with 14 participants per tour. Each tour will be conducted by guides from the LA Conservation Corps.


Each trip will include a boating clinic, and most times a brief river history by guides and educational talks from a variety of guest speakers. All boating and safety equipment are provided as part of the fee paid by attendees.


Trip information

Tours will take place Thursdays through Sundays.

Thursday to Saturday rips will depart at: 9:30AM, 11:30AM, and 1:30PM

Sunday 9:00AM, 11:30AM, 1:30PM


Thursdays are designated for schools and youth programs. Paid tours will be available Friday through Sunday.

Tour season start Thursday , June 4 through Friday, September 25th.


Fees: The fee per participant is $50.00 plus a $3.74 handling fee.

Your fee covers the rental of the boats, safety equipment, labor, administration, and insurance.


REFUNDS

All tickets are non-refundable. Please make sure you pick a day that works for you.

If we cancel your trip due to weather conditions In some cases we might be able to fit you in on a future trip, this however is not guaranteed. If we are unable to reschedule you from a cancelation due to weather conditions we will refund your ticket value.


LOCATION SPECIFICS

The program will be offered within the Sepulveda Recreation Basin in the San Fernando Valley segment of the River located at:

Balboa Lake/Anthony C Beilenson

Park entrance is off of Balboa Blvd

6300 Balboa Blvd

Encino, CA 91316.

*Parking lot is on your left once you enter park.


Look for directional signage off of Balboa Blvd, between Victory blvd and Burbank blvd. Directions from 101 Hollywood Freeway, exit Balboa Blvd and head north towards Burbank Blvd. Continue past Burbank for half a mile and turn right onto the Anthony C. Beilenson Park entrance.  If you get to Victory Blvd you’ve gone too far.


Once everyone has been checked in, you will be shuttled to river put-in point and then shuttled back to your car at the end of tour.


INFORMATION

Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in the program.  Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements.


Trips may be cancelled due to sudden changes in weather conditions such as flash floods or chance of rain.  Please check this website the night before your tour date for any cancellation notices.


CHECK-IN & WHAT TO BRING

Please arrive at the check-in site at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the trip in order to allow time to transport you to the launching area, assign you a kayak, and guide you through proper safety training.  Make sure to give yourself enough time for parking and walking to the check-in location. Restrooms are just past the parking lot.


Please bring a copy of your ticket.


Save time by downloading the waiver form and bring it with you signed on the day of your tour.


Please bring your own reusable water container, water will be provided to fill your reusable container.


We recommend that you:

-Wear sunscreen.

-Bring a reusable water container, we will have water available onsite to refill your bottles.

-If you want to bring sunglasses, make sure they are the type that you do not mind loosing.

-Wear closed toes sandals/shoes or water shoes/sandals that have a good rubber grip. No flip-flops please.

-Bring extra clothing to change into after the tour or bring large plastic bag or a towel to place over your car seat, as you will most likely get wet.


Also, please leave all valuables at home. Your fingers will wrinkle with constant water contact, and wedding rings could potentially come loose and fall in the water. can come loose, and earrings will get in the way of your safety helmet.  For keys or other absolutely necessary items, bring your own waterproof bag or container.  The guides, the LA Conservation Corps, and the Paddle The LA River program itself are not responsible for any lost items, which include items that fall into the river, or items left in your car.
