Paddle the LA River!



If you purchased a ticket, Valid ID must be presented at the time of checking in on the day of the tour. You will receive a $25.00 refund if you cancel at least 72 hours prior to your assigned tour time. Your ticket is assigned only to you and may not be transferred to another person.


The program will be offered within the Sepulveda Recreation Basin in the San Fernando Valley segment of the River located at:

6001 Balboa Blvd

Encino, CA 91316.

Look for directional signage: parking and registration is adjacent to the soccer fields, restroom facilities are nearby. (this is the check- in/registration location. The launch area is downstream of Burbank Bridge) transportation to the launching point will be provided from the registration point.

The Sepulveda Recreation Basin is a popular recreational center, has easy access by public transit, car, and bicycle.


Please have the following information available before registering online:

  1. Contact Information for each attendee (address, email, and phone)

  2. Credit Card information

  3. Emergency contact: this contact should not be registered for the same trip.

  4. Kayak experience: Beginner, moderate or advanced

Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in the program.  Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements.

Trips may be cancelled due to sudden changes in weather conditions such as flash floods or chance of rain.  Please check this website the night before your tour date for any cancellation notices.


Please arrive at the check-in site at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the trip in order to allow time to transport you to the launching area, assign you a kayak, and guide you through proper safety training Make sure to give yourself enough time for parking and walking to the check-in location. There are restrooms at the parking site.

Save time by downloading the waiver form and bring it with you signed on the day of your tour.

This is a bottled-water free event. Please bring your own reusable water container, water will be provided to fill your reusable container.

We recommend:

-Wear sunscreen.

-Bring a reusable water container, we will have water available onsite to refill your bottles.

-If you want to bring sunglasses, make sure they are the type that you do not mind loosing.

-Wear closed toes sandals/shoes. No flip-flops please.

-Bring extra clothing to change into after the tour or bring large plastic bag or a towel to place over your car seat, as you will most likely get wet.

Leave all valuables at home (i.e., your fingers will wrinkle with constant water contact and wedding rings can come loose, earrings will get in the way of your safety helmet).  For keys or other absolutely necessary items, bring your own waterproof bag or container.  The guides and the program itself are not responsible for any lost items, items that fall into the river, or items left in your car.

There will be three recreation-education trips per day, with 14 participants per tour. Each tour will be conducted by guides from the LA Conservation Corps.

Each trip will include a boating clinic, and most times a brief river history by guides and educational talks from a variety of guest speakers. All boating and safety equipment are provided as part of the fee paid by attendees.


The fee per participant is $50.00 plus a $3.74 handling fee.

Your fee covers the rental of the boats, safety equipment, labor, administration, and insurance. 

This is a bottled-water free event. Instead, please bring your own reusable water container.

Water will be provided to fill your reusable container.

Program details

Water shoes/sandals that have a good rubber grip are fine as long as they are closed toe.

Flip flops are not allowed.

Tours will take place Monday’s, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

There will be trips at: 9:00AM, 10:45, AND 12:30PM

Wednesdays are designated for schools and youth programs.
