Paddle the LA River is the premier kayaking experience in LA. Our guides will tour you down one of the most natural soft-bottom areas surrounded by native habitat along the LA River in the Sepulveda Basin. When you purchase tickets with our program, you help us provide at-risk youth with opportunities for success through job skills training, education, work experience and career-readiness training.
All sales are final. Please make sure you are available the day you are buying your tickets for as NO REFUNDS will be issues.
There will be three trips per day, with fourteen (14) slots available to the public to purchase per trip. Each trip will have three certified guides. We provide you with a kayak and all safety equipment including a personal floating device and helmet. Each tour will include a short training session, a brief river history by our guides and at times, talks from guest speakers on the river and its habitat, water quality, safety, and information on LAR programs. Participants will get a chance to view wildlife, navigate a kayak around slow-moving water, and learn about the river's past, present, and future.
The entire tour will take approximately 1 ½ hours, including ground rules and safety talk.

•Paddle Clinic: On the ground and in water, participants practice paddling upstream to (quiet area of river remove) gathering point in the river.
•River talk: Guest Speaker when available.
•Paddle upstream approximately .75 mile to the grade stabilizer and back
•There may be some pauses along the way to appreciate and discuss points of interest
•Group paddles down final stretch, final notes on River
•Take out: Staff will be waiting to collect equipment.
•The drive back
•Farewell and Thank You – End of tour
Fridays are reserved for school and other youth programs. If you are interested in booking a paddle trip for your youth organization.
Public trips are available on Saturdays. Trip times are:
9AM, 11AM and 1PM
Please be sure to arrive at Balboa Lake/Anthony C.Beilenson Park no later than 10 minutes after the hour of your selected trip. The shuttle will depart from the meeting location 10 minutes after the hour.
Fees: The fee per participant is $30.00 plus a handling fee.
Your fee covers the rental of the kayak, safety equipment, labor, administration, and insurance.
All tickets are non-refundable. Please make sure you pick a day that works for you.
If we cancel your trip due to weather conditions In some cases we might be able to fit you in on a future trip, this however is not guaranteed. If we are unable to reschedule you from a cancellation due to weather conditions we will refund your ticket value.

*Parking lot is on your left once you enter park.
Look for directional signage off of Balboa Blvd, between Victory blvd and Burbank blvd. Directions from 101 Hollywood Freeway, exit Balboa Blvd and head north towards Burbank Blvd. Continue past Burbank for half a mile and turn right onto the Anthony C. Beilenson Park entrance. If you get to Victory Blvd you’ve gone too far.
Once everyone has been checked in, you will be shuttled to river put-in point and then shuttled back to your car at the end of tour.
Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in the program. Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements.
Trips may be cancelled due to sudden changes in weather conditions such as flash floods or chance of rain. Please check this website the night before your tour date for any cancellation notices.
CHECK-IN & WHAT TO BRING
Please arrive at the check-in site at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the trip in order to allow time to transport you to the launching area, assign you a kayak, and guide you through proper safety training. Make sure to give yourself enough time for parking and walking to the check-in location. Restrooms are just past the parking lot.
Please bring a copy of your ticket.
Save time by downloading the waiver form and bring it with you signed on the day of your tour.
Please bring your own reusable water container, water will be provided to fill your reusable container.
We recommend that you:
-Bring a reusable water container, we will have water available onsite to refill your bottles.
-If you want to bring sunglasses, make sure they are the type that you do not mind loosing.
-Wear closed toes sandals/shoes or water shoes/sandals that have a good rubber grip. No flip-flops please.
-Bring extra clothing to change into after the tour or bring large plastic bag or a towel to place over your car seat, as you will most likely get wet.
Also, please leave all valuables at home. Your fingers will wrinkle with constant water contact, and wedding rings could potentially come loose and fall in the water. can come loose, and earrings will get in the way of your safety helmet. For keys or other absolutely necessary items, bring your own waterproof bag or container.
